It seems unbelievable but with this method you can built a strong mind as well. Pilates believed that mental and physical health, are interrelated and this has to do with the principles of pilates which is Concentration. During the exercises you have to be absolutely focused on what you are doing all the time. The right way that the exercises are done is more important than the exercises themselves. Control, during the lesson we have to control every movement with the muscles working to lift against gravity. According to Joseph Pilates, his method teaches you to be in control of your body and not at its mercy. Center. Pilates believed that the center of the body must be in the center of gravity of the body (6 cm/ 2.5 in) under the navel, on a spot known as “hara”) all the moves are controlled by the contraction of the muscles in this area. Flowable movements/ Flow, every set of exercises have to be controlled by the muscles of the belly and to be done with continuous, slow and soft movements. Precision. With the absolute control of the body until the exercises become one with your movements, you will have balance in every one of your daily activities. Breathing, people have learned to hold their breath or to take superficial breaths during exercising and that blocks the supply of oxygen to the muscles and reduces their efficiency. In pilates we are breathing deeply with the lower part of our ribs and back.
